Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Schools and Early Learning is designed to support early learning centres, primary and secondary schools in Australia ‘to develop environments that foster a higher level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.’

The half day workshop is designed for schools implementing RAPs and for those schools who are considering developing a RAP. This session will provide school leaders and/or key teachers with the opportunity to gain:

  • insights into the leadership styles that facilitate best practice in implementing a RAP, updating a RAP, and how to maintain the momentum.  
  • strategies for supporting teachers to embed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures Cross Curriculum Priority into the learning areas.
  • an understanding of the benefits to the school community of implementing a RAP, the highlights from other schools and strategies for dealing with challenges. 
  • knowledge about the functionality of the new Narragunnawali website and how to use it most effectively to share the RAP actions and promote the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning resources.
  • information about different approaches to beginning a RAP in a school and considered advice about possible ways forward that would suit your school context.
  • guidance about how to develop and extend relationships with Aboriginal communities and how to more effectively partner with them to enrich the cultural learning in the classroom.

This workshop will provide you with an opportunity to be part of, and learn from, a professional network of educators who are promoting reconciliation in our schools.

Registration for this half day event will incur a fee of $50 (GST inc) per participant. This fee is invoiced after the event and is payable even if you do not attend on the day as the AISSA will still incur costs. If notice of cancellation is received before the event RSVP cut-off date the fee will be waived.
