Program Overview: This one-day interactive workshop with Distinguished Professor Pamela Snow is centred on English and literacy development, and is designed for F–12 English teachers, Learning Area Leaders, Inclusive Education teams, and SSOs. Participants will explore four key areas that shape inclusive, evidence-informed classroom practice:

  • How Humans Learn: Understand executive functions, cognitive load theory, and the value of explicit instruction in supporting all learners.
  • Oral Language and Literacy: Examine the foundations of oral language and its essential role in reading, writing, and spelling.
  • The History of English: Discover how etymology and word structure influence literacy development and classroom teaching.
  • Neurodiversity and Pseudoscience: Learn to identify co-occurring challenges and avoid pseudoscientific approaches, using Response to Intervention as a guiding framework.

This workshop offers practical strategies and deep insights to strengthen inclusive, high-impact English teaching across all year levels.
