Designing Purposeful Tasks Using the AC v9 Cross Curriculum Priorities

12th March, 2024 @ 9:00 am

Date/Time:

12/03/2024 - 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Description:

The cross-curriculum priorities that make up the third dimension of the Australian Curriculum ensure that content is current and relevant. These priorities give students the chance to focus on content with regional, national and global significance” (AC v9).

Participants attending this one day workshop will engage in learning that focuses on how the Cross-Curriculum Priorities can be used to enhance learning and teaching practice. Participants will work together to develop sequences of tasks in which the priorities are purposefully embedded to provide authentic and meaningful contexts for the learning and to add depth to the content. Participants will be encouraged to trial relevant sequences of tasks between sessions.

The online workshop will provide continued opportunity for learning and will specifically focus on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures Cross-Curriculum Priority.

This workshop will also provide time for participants to explore the functionality and interactivity of the new Australian Curriculum website which supports teachers to make purposeful connections between the three dimensions of the curriculum – the Learning Areas, General Capabilities and Cross-Curriculum Priorities.
