Date/Time:

23/03/2023 - 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Description:

The SOUL Learning Blueprint: Teaching for Surface, Deep and Transfer:  New Teams

This powerful and internationally regarded program provides teachers and leaders with transformative knowledge about the learning process through the trajectory of surface, to deep-levels of learning, and to transfer/adaptive learning. Led by global thinker, author, academic and educational neuroscientist, Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, this 4-part series will empower schools and teaching teams to consider the latest and most innovative understandings of the learning process and assist them in preparing the next generation of learners in developing key skills and mindsets, including metacognition, critical thinking and personal agency.  Teachers and leaders will be equipped to design impactful learning for the varied stages of the Learning Trajectory and to reflect and challenge thinking on their current educational practices. Dr Horvath’s provocative insights and knowledge will provide teachers with the most important and latest concepts from the field of learning sciences, challenge thinking around education’s ‘conventional wisdoms’ as well as to deliver a practical framework that teachers and schools can use to inform teaching practice that have direct impact on student outcomes.

What you will learn

Key Learning includes:
Session  1: Foundations of Thinking, Learning Principles and the Power of Micro-projects
Session  2: Learning Trajectory – Teaching for Surface, Deep and Transfer in Learning
Session  3: How does memory & attention inform our teaching and the learning process?
Session  4: Metacognition, Stress, Wellbeing and Relationships

Teaching teams will be invited to conduct short ‘Micro-Projects’ which can then form the basis of key principles of teaching and learning for schools and can be connected to a range of strategic directions in a school such as their teacher performance and development processes.  Schools will also be invited to be part of a growing national and international network of schools building a research base applicable across all contexts. Individual school conversations (SOUL Chats) with Dr Horvath will also be offered to participating schools to assist in further embedding the work into school practice.

New school teams are invited to register their interest for the SOUL Learning Blueprint via this Expression of Interest. This may be a new school or an additional team from a continuing school.  Please note, the program for new school teams is limited to 6 schools in 2023. EOI to close March 17 . The SOUL Continuers Program is now full.
