Day 1, 7 May

A full day workshop, hosted by the AISSA and presented by psychologists Kerry Burke and Lisa Chisholm, will explore student behaviour through a developmental lens. The workshop will focus on:

  • social and emotional development, particularly in school-age years
  • effects of trauma and adverse life events
  • supportive classroom practice and strategies for both typically developing students and those requiring additional supports.

Day 2, 21 October

A full day workshop provided to teachers and school leaders, focusing on fostering proactive, positive behaviour strategies and supports within schools from the everyday classroom through to intervention. The workshop will consider practical actions and responses in the educational setting, with consideration to the learning from Day 1 in the series. Topics covered include:

  • positive behaviour support
  • response to intervention
  • functional behaviour analysis
  • individual behaviour support plans.

Presenter: Melissa Symonds, AISSA

 

Participants will increase their capacity to understand and apply current research and evidence-based strategies in a contextualized manner, proactively supporting positive behaviours.
