Program Overview: The National Teacher Certification (NTC) program provides experienced teachers with the opportunity to have their practice nationally certified as Highly Accomplished or Lead Teachers in alignment with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
The program recognises and celebrates expert teachers who have a sustained impact on student learning and contribute significantly to the professional growth of colleagues and the wider school community.
Through a rigorous, evidence-based assessment process, candidates demonstrate the depth and breadth of their professional practice across the four domains of the Standards—Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice, Professional Engagement, and Leadership.
The NTC program is designed as a professional learning and certification process. It supports teachers to:
- Reflect deeply on their impact and professional growth
- Engage in professional dialogue and collaboration
- Strengthen the quality of teaching and leadership within their schools.
Certification is nationally portable and endorsed by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), ensuring recognition across all Australian jurisdictions
