This series is centered on building individual and social capital as a leader of mathematics in a middle and secondary school setting. These half day workshops led by Deb Woodard-Knight will be held once a term and will engage Learning Leaders in practice exchange and stimulating professional dialogue about current and emerging best practices related to mathematics learning, teaching and assessment.

Dialogue and collective inquiry will focus on:

  • Current mathematics educational research and initiatives
  • Interpreting and understanding the mathematics curriculum
  • Teaching and learning methodologies – successful approaches for teaching and assessing specific content
  • Engaging students through open ended problems that allow high levels of conversation
  • Enhancing student involvement
  • Developing student agency (independent thinking)
  • Sharing of classroom practice and mathematics initiatives
  • Open discussion
