A workshop for aspiring, new board members and those wishing to improve their financial literacy.

This workshop is designed for those board members who have minimal financial training or knowledge. It will focus on what board members need to know, what to look out for, financial performance indicators and understanding budgets.

This interactive workshop aims to build the capacity of boards to better understand school financials and will address basic theory and concepts and the importance of school context in effective financial management.

The workshop will be practical and provide the opportunity for questions and individual assistance.

This session willl be presented by Paul Campey.  As a Chartered Accountant (Fellow) and specialist consultant in the areas of governance, leadership and financial management, Paul has undertaken reviews and provided assistance to Schools, Churches and Not for Profits in Australia and internationally, as well as running Board and other training seminars. He is the co-founder of The Bursars Forum (www.bursarsforum.com) and currently serves on the ACSI Global Council and the Board of Christian Heritage College (Tertiary). He has previously served on a number of local and international boards. Paul has also co-authored the book Community Governance, a practical guide to building healthy Non Profit organisations. Prior to entering consulting in 2001 he was a Business Manager and Company Secretary in two large Independent Schools. Before working in schools and not for profits Paul was an auditor for 7 years with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers). Paul is currently undertaking a PhD focussed on School Governance.
