It will f ocus on what board members need to know\, what to look out for\, financial performance indicators and understanding budgets.\n\nThis interactive wor kshop aims to build the capacity of boards to better understand school fin ancials and will address basic theory and concepts and the importance of s chool context in effective financial management.\n\nThe workshop will be p ractical and provide the opportunity for questions and individual assistan ce.\n\nThis session willl be presented by Paul Campey.  As a Chartered Ac countant (Fellow) and specialist consultant in the areas of governance\, l eadership and financial management\, Paul has undertaken reviews and provi ded assistance to Schools\, Churches and Not for Profits in Australia and internationally\, as well as running Board and other training seminars. He is the co-founder of The Bursars Forum (www.bursarsforum.com) and current ly serves on the ACSI Global Council and the Board of Christian Heritage C ollege (Tertiary). He has previously served on a number of local and inter national boards. Paul has also co-authored the book Community Governance\, a practical guide to building healthy Non Profit organisations. Prior to entering consulting in 2001 he was a Business Manager and Company Secretar y in two large Independent Schools. Before working in schools and not for profits Paul was an auditor for 7 years with Coopers &\; Lybrand (now P riceWaterhouseCoopers).
