This workshop is designed for aspiring and new Board members and those wishing to improve their financial literacy.

The workshop is designed for Board members who have minimal financial training or knowledge. It will focus on what Board members need to know, what to look out for, financial performance indicators and understanding budgets.

It aims to build the capacity of Board members to better understand school financial data and will address basic theory and concepts and the importance of school context in effective financial management.

As a Chartered Accountant (Fellow) and specialist consultant in the areas of governance, leadership and financial management, Paul has undertaken reviews and provided assistance to schools, churches and not-for-profits in Australia and internationally as well as running Board and other training seminars. He is the cofounder of The Bursars Forum (www.bursarsforum.com) and currently serves on the ACSI Global Council and the Board of Christian Heritage College (Tertiary). He has previously served on a number of local and international boards. Paul has also co-authored the book Community Governance, a practical guide to building healthy non–profit organisations. Prior to entering consulting in 2001, Paul was a Business Manager and Company Secretary in two large Independent schools. Prior to that, he was an auditor for seven years with Coopers and Lybrand (now Price-Waterhouse Coopers). Paul is currently undertaking a PHD focused on School Governance.
