SUMMARY:Financial Management for Non- Accountants: Improving Your Financial
  Literacy
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for aspiring and new Board members an
 d those wishing to improve their financial literacy.\n\nThe workshop is de
 signed for Board members who have minimal financial training or knowledge.
  It will focus on what Board members need to know\, what to look out for\,
  financial performance indicators and understanding budgets.\n\nIt aims to
  build the capacity of Board members to better understand school financial
  data and will address basic theory and concepts and the importance of sch
 ool context in effective financial management.\n\nAs a Chartered Accountan
 t (Fellow) and specialist consultant in the areas of governance\, leadersh
 ip and financial management\, Paul has undertaken reviews and provided ass
 istance to schools\, churches and not-for-profits in Australia and interna
 tionally as well as running Board and other training seminars. He is the c
 ofounder of The Bursars Forum (www.bursarsforum.com) and currently serves 
 on the ACSI Global Council and the Board of Christian Heritage College (Te
 rtiary). He has previously served on a number of local and international b
 oards. Paul has also co-authored the book Community Governance\, a practic
 al guide to building healthy non–profit organisations. Prior to entering
  consulting in 2001\, Paul was a Business Manager and Company Secretary in
  two large Independent schools. Prior to that\, he was an auditor for seve
 n years with Coopers and Lybrand (now Price-Waterhouse Coopers). Paul is c
 urrently undertaking a PHD focused on School Governance.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTar
