The ALab and MetaPraxis Learning Impact Symposium

2nd May, 2022 @ 9:00 am

Date/Time:

02/05/2022 - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Description:

The Association of Independent Schools South Australia (AISSA) will host the ALab and MetaPraxis Learning Impact Symposium to showcase and celebrate the research of 23 schools which have worked alongside international thought leaders Charles Leadbeater and Michael Bunce. This work has been documented in two CSE publications and a podcast series which will be launched by Mr Anthony Mackay AM.

The ALab findings are presented as 10 Lessons of Student Agency – takeaways that explore what it means to be an agency school and agency as philosophy, product and practice. The MetaPraxis project has explored ways to originate, grow and embed interdisciplinary approaches and developed tools to narrate learning and document learning impact.

The research has raised broader questions about ways to recognise holistic student learning; three significant strands, agency, transfer, and wellbeing have consistently emerged as ongoing questions across the projects. These issues will form the basis of an exciting new research project which will be launched at the Symposium, supported by international experts in this field, that will enable our schools to further contribute to an important global debate about learning and recognition.

This symposium represents a significant opportunity to engage with the community of practice, research and innovation, which has emerged through the leading-edge work of schools involved in the Student Agency and MetaPraxis projects. It will provide a forum to share ideas and practice with a wider international community of learners, practitioners, learning organisations, schools, universities, researchers, academics, and thought leaders – the voices of those leading work to transform and innovate at scale education philosophies, practices, systems, and structures for the future.
