Description:

The AISSA provides support and professional learning for teachers in Independent Schools in SA who are seeking to become certified as a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher (HALT) and have their Principal’s support to do so.  Certification is a national process and uses the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) as a basis for certifying teachers at the Highly Accomplished (HA) or Lead career stages.

For further information and resources please go to these websites:  AITSL Certification  and AISSA Certification.

Target Group

Teachers who are working at or towards the Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher career stage of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) and who have the support and approval of their Principal.  Collecting and collating the evidence of your impact for the Stage 1 application usually takes one to two years. Workshop A is also suitable for Principals and line managers/mentors who want to find out more about certification and how they might support and/or mentor their teachers to apply.

Workshop A: Introduction to Certification

This workshop aims to:

  • introduce certification, unpack the requirements of the process and discuss eligibility, suitability and readiness to apply.
  • support applicants and their leaders/mentors to develop a deeper understanding of the APST, explore how their practice aligns to the career stages, how to evidence their impact and the benefits of certification for teachers and schools.

Applicants are encouraged to invite their mentor or line manager to ensure a shared understanding of the process and requirements is developed.

Workshop B:  Thursday 27 August  9am – 1pm (face to face)

Workshop C:  Thursday 8 October  9am – 3pm (face to face)

This workshop series is free, however, the total cost of certification for applicants is $1825 – paid in stages.  The three-workshop series is offered each semester and must be completed in the correct sequence and within two years. Applicants must have the support of their Principal to apply for certification.
