Description:

The OSHC Educators’ Network is structured for OSHC leaders and educators from AISSA member schools to engage collaboratively in ways which invigorate and enrich practice. It provides a forum for provocation and discussion and facilitates a community of practice approach to ongoing professional learning. Implementing the My Time Our Place Framework and the National Quality Standard, participants will have the opportunity to engage in rich group discussions relating to current research on educational theories and practices, focused topics and other questions and issues raised.

These four workshops will provide information relating to relevant and current issues including regulatory requirements, assessment and rating processes, the Quality Improvement Plan and the implementation of My Time Our Place.

Nature Play will be the lens to build skills and understandings in particular focus areas including:

  • critical reflection
  • inclusion
  • responding to and managing challenging behaviours
  • engagement with families and communities.

Nature Play Project 2022: seasonal opportunities for learning outside of the school day

Each participant will be supported to develop a project that reflects the current needs of their service, children and community. This may include, but is not limited to, sustainability, wellbeing, STEM in nature and seasonal affordances for nature connection.

Each session will include theory and current understandings about children’s development and nature play and the importance of a nature connection. There will be a focus on developing competency and understandings in the use of natural resources in all elements of the service. A showcase of practical activities and how to set up for success will also feature in these sessions to explore:

  • cubby building
  • small worlds
  • weaving
  • risky play
  • storytelling
  • loose parts play
  • sustainable art.
