Cancelled – Discovering Artificial Intelligence: Creating Curious Classrooms Action Research Project

15th June, 2023 @ 9:00 am

Date/Time:

15/06/2023 - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Description:

This professional learning is an opportunity for F – Year 12 Mathematics, Science and/or Digital Technologies teachers to learn about the links in their subject to artificial intelligence (AI). This rapidly expanding, new field of knowledge is impacting every aspect of our lives, often in ways we do not see. This professional learning will help participants understand some of the almost invisible ways that AI operates in our lives, the exciting possibilities for students to use AI across the curriculum to deepen and extend their subject matter learning, while also developing knowledge and understanding of AI.

This opportunity is being offered twice in 2023 – an intake in semester 1, and an intake in semester 2. Each intake will begin with an introductory webinar which will investigate the AI concepts in mathematics, science and digital technologies. The webinar will provide participants with an opportunity to extend understanding of the principles that underpin AI and explore how students can use AI in intriguing ways as part of classroom learning. Participants will then be guided through an action research model to implement a unit of work in mathematics, science and/or digital technologies.

This is a series. By registering you are committing to attending all sessions in your chosen semester.

Semester 2 intake begins on 15 June, 9.00am – 12.00pm

Further online sessions will be negotiated with each school involved.

Audience: mathematics, science and digital technologies teachers F-Year 12

Delivery mode: online

Presenter: Dr Karsten Schulz, Digital Technologies Institute
