Schools will be supported to enhance their expertise in understanding the characteristics and elements of effective whole-of-school approaches to wellbeing. Participants will examine, implement and evaluate contextually appropriate frameworks, approaches, policies and practices.

Workshop A

Professor Donna Cross will present on a range of topics including:

  • wellbeing and mental health in Australia’s children and youth, and school staff wellbeing
  • effective Responses & Targeted Approaches: Prevent, Promote, Protect
  • the importance of ‘Whole School’ inclusivity
  • key barriers & opportunities
  • proposed recommendations and practical approaches for schools to implement and evaluate.

Workshop B

Selected schools will be invited to contribute to a panel discussion during this workshop. Schools will share their wellbeing vision and evidence-based framework, approaches, policies and practices.

The AISSA Wellbeing Team will follow up with individual schools seeking specific support to develop/implement/evaluate a whole school approach, including measurement and evaluation tools, frameworks, support organisations (Be You, headspace etc), resources and data collection (Wellbeing and Engagement Collection).

Suitable case studies may be developed and included in the AISSA High Impact School Improvement Tool.
