SUMMARY:Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (Term 4)
DESCRIPTION:Being able to notice\, support and respond to support students 
 with mental health issues is a critical skill for educators today. This tw
 o-day face to face Youth Mental Health First Aid training teaches the skil
 ls you need to help someone you are concerned about and is suitable for ed
 ucators who work with adolescents.\n\nMental Health First Aid is early int
 ervention for mental health problems. It teaches people to recognise the s
 igns and symptoms\, which suggest a potential mental health problem and ho
 w to refer appropriately. It is not designed as a prevention program nor i
 s it a mental health promotion program\, although course participants may 
 experience beneficial mental health effects from completing mental health 
 first aid training.\n\nThe course addresses specific categories of mental 
 ill-health such as depression\, anxiety\, eating disorders\, substance mis
 use\, psychosis and how to deal with crises in young people. It includes h
 ow to recognise and assist an adolescent who may be experiencing a mental 
 health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help
  is received or the crisis resolves\, using a practical\, evidence-based a
 ction plan.\n\nThe cost of the course includes: Two days face to face trai
 ning\, a copy of the Youth Mental Health First Aid Manual and a certificat
 e of accreditation for those who complete all the required training.\n\nTh
