This project supports leadership teams interrogate student achievement data at a deeper level, and to plan for action arising from this interrogation.
A mentor text (Venables, D., How Teacher Can Turn Data into action, ASCD, 2014) will be used to frame this action research focussed on:
- Developing data literacy
- Reviewing existing data – asking probing questions
- Triangulating data – ‘connect the dots’ between data sets to reveal insights and patterns
- Determining gaps and goals – synthesising the data into meaningful information (data story)
- Planning for action – designing a prototype data-informed action plan
The design of the project, which involves a half day data clinic followed by bespoke coaching clinics with individual schools, will provide tailored support for leadership teams in their unique school contexts.
