SUMMARY:Teaching and Learning in an AI World
DESCRIPTION:Elevate your understanding of AI! Join our 4-part workshop
series: Teaching and Learning in an AI World. Discover innovative ways to
harness AI for engaging assessments\, practical tools\, pedagogical quality
and how AI aligns with your educational purpose. Explore the future of
education with us – your purpose\, your impact\, your future. Don't miss
out on this journey while exploring the AI-powered future of education and
how it can inspire you and your students.\n\nWorkshop 1: Assessments and
artificial intelligence: designing tasks for academic integrity and
engagement\n\nLeon Furze is an international consultant\, author\, and
speaker with years of experience in education and leadership. Leon is
studying his PhD in the implications of Artificial Intelligence on writing
instruction and education. We meet together at AISSA\, and Leon will join
us remotely to lead our full-day workshop.\n\nThis session will explore the
implications of Generative AI (GAI) for assessment practices. Using an
assessment scale which provides clarity on where AI can and cannot be
used\, participants will work on their own assessment tasks for
individuals\, groups\, and practical assessments. The session will discuss
the various forms of GAI\, including text\, image\, and audio\, and how to
discuss assessments and academic integrity with students for tasks in these
various modes. No experience of GAI is required for this
 session.\n\nWorkshop 2: AI\, focus on ‘the why’ and ‘values'\n\nDr
Nicholas Jackson has worked for over 23 years in education at universities
and in schools. Nick has a passion for networking\, sharing\, researching
and working with teachers\, students and technology. He focuses on learners
being empowered to access education in the ways that they choose and have
doors open to create new pathways into learning enhanced by technology. AI
offers unfathomable opportunities to disrupt education in many
ways.\n\nThis workshop will look at the fundamental considerations
educators at all levels must face in integrating AI into practice. It will
offer insights\, use cases\, commentary and evidence of what can and has
been achieved in different contexts.\n\nWorkshop 3: AI: Implications for
Policy and Pedagogy\n\nTim Moore draws on a range of teaching experiences
in secondary and tertiary contexts. He currently works in the literacy
assessment space for the Australian Curriculum\, Assessment and Reporting
Authority. ChatGPT and other models are revolutionising education. As this
technology quickly becomes ubiquitous\, education leaders are wrestling
with its rapidly evolving capabilities and the unfolding implications.
Developing cohesive\, ethical\, and pedagogically sound responses to these
changes has become an urgent need for educators across all levels and
sectors.\n\nThis session will delve into these challenges\, emphasising the
implications for policy and pedagogy. We will explore how generative AI is
altering school-level processes and discuss the ethical integration of this
technology in education.\n\nWorkshop 4: How to ensure that your educational
purpose drives your use of AI in the classroom\n\nAdrian Cotterell
currently serves as the Director of Studies (ELC-12) at Emmaus Christian
College. With a background in postgraduate studies focused on quality
assessment design\, Adrian emphasises the importance of expert teachers
guiding the integration of AI technologies in curriculum\, instruction\,
and assessment practices.\n\nThis final workshop of the series will focus
on how to ensure that your educational purpose drives your use of AI in the
classroom and how to use AI to help your students think deeper about what
they are learning.\n\nDon't miss this chance to shape the future of
learning and provide opportunity for students' success in your school
context.\n\nThis is a series. By registering you are committing to
