SUMMARY:School-wide Approaches to Supporting EAL/D Students and Families
DESCRIPTION:EAL/D students represent a growing population in Independent
 schools\, prompting schools to consider how best to support these students
 and their families. Clear whole-school practice regarding enrolment\,
 communication\, shared understanding\, language learning and access to the
 curriculum is necessary.\n\nThis two-hour workshop will assist school
 leaders and their staff in determining best practice within their school
 context. Topics covered include:\n\nEnrolment\n\n 	What information should
 I seek and how is it obtained?\n 	How do I best engage in open and
 supportive conversation?\n 	What supports are available for families?\n
 	What additional information might be relevant for new arrival and refugee
 families?\n\nAssessment and monitoring of language\n\n 	What tools and
 resources are available?\n 	What professional learning is available for
 staff?\n\nInclusive Practice\n\n 	What does inclusion look like for EAL/D
 students?\n 	Advice within the Australian Curriculum to support rigour and
 engagement for EAL/D students.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTarget audience: Teachers and
 leaders with responsibility for supporting EAL/D students and
 families\n\nDelivery mode: face to face\n\nPresenter: Melisa Symonds\,
