Overview: In 2026\, AISSA member schools can access the new South
Australian Year One Numeracy Check\, the Mathematics Assessment
Interview for South Australian schools (MAI SA)\, a powerful\,
research-backed tool developed by the Department for Education SA. This
one-on-one assessment uncovers students’ mathematical thinking across key
 domains: counting\, place value\, addition/subtraction\, and
multiplication/division. In just 15–20 minutes\, teachers gain deep
insights using a growth point framework to track progress.\n\nRegister now
for this one-day face-to-face training\, led by Sarah Pendrey (St
John’s Grammar School) and Desiree Gilbert (AISSA)\, designed to equip
Year 1 teachers and Primary Learning/Numeracy Leaders with the skills to
confidently administer the MAI SA and use results to drive targeted
instruction.\n\nParticipants will learn to:\n\n implement the MAI SA
effectively\n analyse student responses using growth points\n plan
 precise\, data-informed teaching strategies.\n\nThis initiative is made
