SUMMARY:The Power of Cognitive Verbs
DESCRIPTION:Assisting Students to Become Better Learners\n\nTeaching academ
 ic vocabulary explicitly and then applying the vocabulary in the classroom
  to improve student outcomes has a solid research base. (Bellanca 2012\, M
 arzano 2013\, QCAA 2018).  Students explicitly taught the skills and pro
 cesses of cognitive verbs are better equipped to meet syllabus objectives 
 and demonstrate their learning through assessment.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nIn this f
 ocused and practical workshop educators will know\, understand and be able
  to use the most frequently used cognitive verbs in the Australian Curricu
 lum Achievement Standards. Educators will develop a cognitive verb progres
 sion of their own choosing that can be used for formative assessment with 
 students. The use of cognitive verbs in designing effective questions and 
 assessment tasks will also be explored.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe workshop will be
  informed by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) Cog
 nitive Verb Toolkit (2018)\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTarget Group \n\nTeachers Foundat
 ion to Year 10\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThere is no on-site parking available.  For
