SUMMARY:New Thinking: New Possibilities STEM Webinar Series\, webinar 6 -
Educating Beyond our Present (Transdisciplinary Innovation)
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 Webinar Series aims to bring together educators from
Early Years to Year 12\, researchers and industry to consider new
thinking\, new possibilities and to explore how STEM education can provide
students with new opportunities and pathways for a strong and vibrant
future.\n\nIf we ourselves have built upon the education that we were
provided\, then how do we design and engage students in an education not
only for their present but also for their future? How does education need
to change if in our present we acknowledge that we are accelerating at
unprecedented speed towards a different future?\n\nThis webinar does not
provide answers\, but instead throws down challenges for all of us as
educators and questions what we understand the future to be and how we
understand our role as educators\, as agents of change.\n\nThis webinar
will presented by Emeritus Professor Louise McWhinnie.\n\nLouise McWhinnie
is an Emeritus Professor\, previously the inaugural Dean of the Faculty of
Transdisciplinary Innovation at The University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
She has lived and worked as an academic in three continents (Europe\,
Asia\, and Australia)\, with her research conducted predominantly within a
 fourth (North America).\n\nWith UTS's transdisciplinary vision\, Prof.
McWhinnie was one of a core team of academics who designed and launched
Australia's first undergraduate transdisciplinary programme\, which quickly
grew to become amongst the university's most sought-after programmes and is
now accompanied by postgraduate and doctoral programmes. With its
significant integration of industry\, industry partners\, staff and
students\, work is undertaken to address wicked\, complex and connected
problems beyond the boundaries of singular disciplines. Such educational
innovation has resulted in a growing number of awards.\n\nLouise’s own
research and its integration into teaching has resulted in national and
university awards and citations. She has also undertaken print\, radio and
TV interviews\, and delivered keynotes\, masterclasses and presentations in
 London\, Singapore\, Hong Kong\, Beijing\, Auckland\, Istanbul\, Washington
DC\, Chicago and Boston (amongst many others)\, as well as keynote
presentations for schools\, businesses and educational associations within
NSW and across Australia.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTarget audience – STEM
 professionals\, teachers and school leaders\n\nDelivery mode –
Zoom\n\nPresenters – Emeritus Professor Louise McWhinnie\, and Aleida
 Mabarrack\, Senior Educational Consultant\, AISSA\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFor
