 CARA v 9.0 Digital Literacy and Technologies: What’s New?
DESCRIPTION:This session will focus on the key changes to v9.0 of the Austr
 alian curriculum. We will look at why the ICT capability is now defined to
  as Digital Literacy and how this has resulted in a new structure. Unpacki
 ng the key changes to both Design and Technologies and Digital Technologie
 s will demonstrate where achievement standards and content descriptions ha
 ve been refined\, reorganised or removed and includes exploring the new su
 b-strand of Privacy and Security in Digital Technologies.\n\nKim Vernon\, 
 Curriculum Specialist\, Technologies\, ACARA \n\nKim Vernon is the Curricu
 lum specialist\, Technologies at ACARA. She was a key member of the review
  of the Australian Curriculum for Digital Technologies and Digital Literac
 y. Kim was also a member of the Digital Technologies in focus project\, fr
 om 2017-2021\, supporting schools across NSW to implement the Digital Tech
 nologies curriculum from an action research perspective. She has extensive
  experience in the field of early childhood / primary education\, speciali
 sing in Digital Literacy education. As lead consultant\, Kim supported the
  Ministry of Education\, Singapore to implement their playmaker program of
  non-screen-based coding/programming into 200 preschools. She is passionat
 e about change in technology\, focusing on curriculum integration support.
  For many years\, Kim has worked with leadership teams\, teachers\, studen
 ts and industry to support the introduction and inclusion of digital tools
  across all areas and all year levels of the UK and Australian Curriculum.
  Her most recent studies of a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security\, pro
 vides a strong research base for supporting privacy and security in the Au
