SUMMARY:New Thinking: New Possibilities STEM Webinar Series\, webinar 2 -
 South Australia’s Place in Space
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered how South Australia fits into the global
 space industry? In “South Australia’s Place in Space” we will explore
 recent trends and missions among the international space community such as
 Artemis\, space mining\, space situational awareness\, and the James Webb
 space telescope. As we embark on our boldest adventure yet as we say
 “G’day\, Moon” with an Australian rover scheduled to land on the moon
 in 2026\, we will delve deeper into what it takes to conduct these types of
 missions and the Australian space capability advancements transforming our
 role in space. South Australia is at the heart of Australia in space\, with
 the innovation hub Lot Fourteen being the home of the Australian Space
 Agency and Australian Space Discovery Centre. Get a peek at Australia’s
 first publicly viewable mission control room and uncover your place in
 space to discover a world of space career opportunities that await right
 here on Australian soil.\n\nThis session will be presented by Nate Taylor
 and Elise Boultby\, Senior Programs and Operations Officers\, Australian
 Space Discovery Centre.\n\nNate is a graduate in Applied Physics and
 Mathematics from the University of South Australia\, as well as an alumni
 of the International Space University. He works as a Senior Programs and
 Operations Officer at the Australian Space Agency’s Australian Space
 Discovery Centre where he aims to inspire Australians about all of the
 opportunities and advantages of space. He has previously worked in the
 space industry in Japan\, and is a founding member of the ISU Australia and
 New Zealand Alumni Association.\n\nElise is a passionate science
 communicator whose career has taken her to South Africa and the Maldives as
 well along Australia’s southern coast. After growing up in the UK she
 completed university in Australia and graduated with an honours science
 degree majoring in marine biology and a bachelor’s degree in English and
 creative writing. She is now working as a Senior Programs and Operations
 Officer with the Australian Space Agency at the Australian Space Discovery
 Centre where she gets to flex her creative muscles and develop new ways to
 engage and excite others in space.\n\nSessions in the 2022 webinar series
