SUMMARY:Navigating the First Years: Setting up Early Career Teachers for Su
 ccess\, session 3 of 5 via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:This session will be offered via Zoom.  Registered attendees w
ill be sent an access link closer to the event.\n\nSuccessful early career
teacher induction occurs within a collaborative school culture\, in addit
ion to intentional and contextual processes that support the professional
practices\, professional identity and well being of the early career teach
er.  Regular access to mentoring is a key component of induction\, benefi
tting both the early career teacher and their mentor.\n\nNavigating the Fi
rst Years will scaffold both the early career teacher and their mentor’s
experiences in this rewarding endeavour. Through regular professional lea
rning over the year\, each early career teacher will receive ongoing suppo
rt focused on establishing positive relationships and learning environment
s\, as the foundation for effective learning.  Exploration of their pedag
ogical toolbox aims to link effective teaching strategies and the architec
ture of a lesson.\n\nAn essential component is the school assigned mentor
 – who will work alongside their early career teacher as they journey fro
m Graduate to Proficient.  The thoughtful pairing of mentor and early car
eer teacher by schools sets them up for success. Mentors will be supported
in this important role through attendance at one professional learning da
y along with video conferencing opportunities.\n\n‘Induction is most eff
ective where there is a strong culture of collaboration and professional g
rowth and where effective processes are in place for all teachers to give
and receive feedback on\, and evidence about\, performance and be challeng
ed and supported to learn.’ AITSL 2016\n\nProgram Outline \n\nWorkshop 1
