SUMMARY:Leading Change in the Teaching of Literacy\, session 2:
 comprehending as a reader\, comprehending as a writer
DESCRIPTION:For many students\, deep comprehension of written texts is
 already a challenge. Yet to use the text as a resource for writing requires
 even further investigation.\n\nThis session explains the use of mentor
 texts to develop both reading comprehension and writing skills through the
 strategy of close reading.\n\nThe session will comprise three sections each
 approximately an hour in duration:\n\n 	A children’s picture book
 suitable for Junior Primary English\n 	A scientific explanation for Primary
 years Science\, and\n 	fiction for Middle Years English.\n\nIn each case
 the language and literary resources for reading comprehension and for
 writing we be discussed and you will have a go at using the mentor texts as
 a launching point for your own little writing workshop.\n\nSession in the
