SUMMARY:Instructional Coaching for Impact
DESCRIPTION:“Instructional coaches partner with teachers to analyze
current reality\, set goals\, identify and explain teaching strategies to
meet goals\, and provide support until goals are met.” (Knight\, The
Impact Cycle\, 2018).\n\nA successful coaching culture cannot operate in
isolation - it is effective when it is situated within the broader aim to
strengthen the school’s eco-system for learning. This program will
support schools to build and/or strengthen a coaching culture within their
community through adopting an instructional coaching philosophy and
approach into their organisational culture.\n\nThis program is informed by
the work of Jim Knight\, a leading instructional coach and in 2022 will
comprise four key elements:\n\nSchool Audit\n\nParticipants will begin with
an analysis of their school’s individual\, social and structural levers
to identify their coaching goals for the year and ways they might begin to
build\, or strengthen\, a thriving coaching culture across their
 school.\n\nImpact Cycle Professional Learning\n\nOver the year\, Growth
Coaching International will facilitate the Impact Cycle professional
learning\, designed around Knight’s seminal text The Impact Cycle: What
Instructional Coaches Should Do to Foster Powerful Improvements in
Teaching\, to support participants in establishing instructional coaching
cycles that lead to improved teaching and student learning. Participants
will explore the following questions:\n\n what are the Partnership
Principles and should I ground my coaching in them\n what should my
approach to coaching be\n how do instructional coaches identify goals with
teachers\, particularly through video reflection and observation\n how
should instructional coaches go about explaining and modelling teaching
strategies\n how do coaches partner with teachers to make adaptations
until goals are met?\n\nBrighton Grammar School (BGS) Coaching Clarity\n\nA
strategic relationship will be undertaken with BGS\, to support coaching
clarity\, based on the school’s implementation of instructional coaching
spanning seven years.  This includes the option to participate in a
'Coaching in Action' school immersion and professional learning at BGS\,
 Melbourne\,\n\non 26 and 27 May\, facilitated by Dr Mark Dowley\, BGS to
see a functioning coaching program in action\, complete a coaching cycle\,
meet with coaches and visit classes. The following day will detail the BGS
rationale\, challenges and process of building an instructional coaching
 program.\n\nCommunities of Practice and Individualised
Coaching\n\nCommunities of Practice via videoconferencing and
individualised coaching\, will support implementation. Participants will be
connected to approaches that embed and enable a coaching culture to
flourish.\n\nSubject to funding\, this program will continue and build on
 learning in 2023.\n\n2022 dates:\n\nIntroduction\, 24 February 3.45 pm –
