The Future of Certification and Tertiary Pathways: Exploring the Potential of Micro Credentialling Complex Competencies and Capabilities

Presented by Professor Sandra Miligan, University of Melbourne

As schools consider the emerging conversation of how to best recognise learning “beyond the ATAR”, teachers and leaders are invited to hear visiting expert, Professor Sandra Miligan Director of the Assessment Research Centre (ARC) at the University of Melbourne as she shares her insights and future directions through her work around the “Credentialling of Complex Capabilities” and the potential of Micro Credentialling in education. Professor Miligan will also share ongoing research on assessment and work undertaken through the University of Melbourne, Network of Schools (UMNOS) focusing on the assessment of ‘capabilities’ that is reliable, valid and consider its potential value across a variety of contexts. As part of this work, she will reflect on progress made currently by schools across the country who have used smart technology through the Ruby Platform, the ARC’s purpose built platform for supporting teachers and schools in making judgements about complex learning outcomes.
