DESCRIPTION:This session will support school board members and senior
 leaders to enhance their capacity to better understand school
 financials and to appreciate the importance of the school’s context

 5:00pm.\n\nProgram Overview: This session will outline key attributes of
 a financially sustainable school and include a short accounting lesson
 for non-accountants. Designed for School Governors\, new Principals and
 Business Managers\, the content presented aligns with the Standards
 for School Registration in South Australia\,
 namely Standard 1.4 - ensuring the ongoing financial viability of the
 school and reporting on the school’s financial performance. \n\nKey
 financial ratios that school leaders and governors should
 understand to enable them to assess the school’s financial
 health will be highlighted. The session will include a practical
 exercise focused on calculating and reviewing key ratios and how to apply
 these ratios in long term budgets to manage/mitigate financial risk and
 prevent financial stress and provide actionable outcomes for the
 school. \n\nLed by John Somerset\, Director of Somerset Education\, the
 session will draw on John’s 38 years in chartered accounting
 and expertise in financial governance for non-government schools. His
 mission is to empower schools with financial confidence and strategic
