Early Career Teachers Program day 3 of 5 – Building Positive Student Relationships
10th May, 2019 @ 9:30 am
Date/Time:
10/05/2019 - 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Description:
Early career experiences have a lasting effect on the way teachers develop and hone the skills they bring to their teaching. This program supports the development of high quality teaching in schools through working with Early Career Teachers and their mentors:
- Using the Australian guidelines for teacher induction into the profession to develop professional identity, professional practice and teacher wellbeing
- Scaffolding and enriching the mentee – mentor relationship
- Developing a pedagogical toolbox
- Collecting evidence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Navigating the transition from provisional to full registration
The establishment of effective mentoring relationships is an important way to support and induct new teachers into the profession. Schools are requested to pair each participating Early Career Teacher with a mentor from their school. Throughout the program, video conferencing and a range of tools will be utilised to support the mentors in this important role. Early Career Teachers must attend all workshops in the series. Mentors are required to attend workshop 2 with their colleague and are invited to also attend the final half day sharing and celebration.
