SUMMARY:Wellbeing for Change - Making an Impact
DESCRIPTION:Professor Donna Cross has worked extensively across Australia
and internationally leading Health Promotion and Education Research teams
to improve children’s and adolescents’ wellbeing\, with a focus on
mental health and social-emotional wellbeing. Donna has an international
reputation for developing school and community-based interventions to
enhance social and emotional development and reduce anti-social behaviour
among children and young people.\n\nIn 2023\, Donna’s work with schools
focussed on understanding the characteristics and elements of effective
whole-of-school approaches to wellbeing. This year\, Donna will build on
this work and lead participants to enact sustainable change. The focus of
these workshops will be to explore a school’s readiness to implement\,
the process of de-implementation and how to map current practice.\n\nOver
the two days\, participants will examine approaches\, policies\, and
practices\, using the foundations of the AISSA Wellbeing Toolkit\, to leave
with a plan that will support effective implementation at the school. Join
us for this opportunity to work with Donna and be supported to implement
real and lasting impact for the wellbeing of students\, staff\, and school
leaders. We warmly welcome those who will be joining us for the first time
and those who will be reengaging with Donna.\n\nThis is a series. By

March 2025 at 5:00pm.\n\nProgram Overview: Significant evidence shows the
actions of the principal and other members of the school leadership team
directly influence the wellbeing of the school community. Many school staff
wellbeing initiatives that address high levels of work-related stress are
well-intentioned but often focus only on boosting morale. While this is a
useful starting point\, to be effective staff wellbeing strategies need to
be embedded in school culture and prioritised to ensure they are adequately
funded and resourced.\n\nJoin Professor Donna Cross OAM\, respected
behavioural scientist and Emeritus Professor at the University of Western
Australia as she presents two dynamic webinars unpacking quality national
and international evidence showing the benefits and value of schools
actively engaging families in the development of students’ learning and
wellbeing. These benefits include students’ higher academic achievement\,
increased confidence and motivation\, improved school attendance\, enhanced
wellbeing and mental health\, higher likelihood of graduation\, improved
positive attitudes about school and improved behaviour.\n\nThe first
one-hour webinar ‘Empowering school staff wellbeing: Strategies for
success’ will address systematic evidence-driven strategies and
considerations for improving school staff wellbeing that address
organisational and interpersonal factors\, not just individual coping
skills. It will address the importance of:\n\n a holistic approach to all
staff wellbeing that includes systemic change\n the role of leadership\n
mental health promotion and support\n self-care and wellbeing initiatives
tailored to the needs of staff.\n\nThe second webinar ‘Enhancing school
staff’s positive engagement with students and families’ will provide a
brief overview of evidence-based practical strategies found to improve
partnerships and positive engagement with families to support students’
wellbeing\, and therefore achievement.  It will also briefly address
actions that can be taken to support school staff when parent relationships
may not be positive. \n\nEnquiries: please contact Rae Dawkins.\n\nTerms
and Conditions: Registration for this series will incur the fee detailed
above. This fee will be invoiced after the event and is payable unless
