SUMMARY:What Boards Need to Know About Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:Child protection is of paramount importance for every school
but it is becoming increasingly complex with changes in State and Federal
legislation\, technology and social media. Boards need to have a shared
understanding and engage with and demonstrate their commitment to child
safety to ensure a harmonious school environment where child safety is
prioritised.\n\nConsideration needs to be given to the Australian Student
Wellbeing Framework (2019) as well as the National Principles of Child Safe
Organisations (2018) which reflect the ten child safe standards recommended
by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual
Abuse\, with a broader scope that goes beyond sexual abuse to cover other
forms of potential harm.\n\nThis session will delve into recommended best
practice approaches that schools should consider from a strategic
perspective when considering child safety policy and
 procedures.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTarget audience: Board Chairs\, Board members\,
 Business Managers and Principals\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nPresenters\nSonia

SUMMARY:2021 AISSA Governance Virtual Conference: What Boards need to know
 about Wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:A Conference for School Board Chairs\, Board Members and
Principals\n\nSee the complete 2021 Governance Conference Program
here\n\nWellbeing is a critical issue in schools and increasingly links are
being demonstrated between wellbeing approaches in school and school

school boards in creating and sustaining high levels of wellbeing in their
communities.\n\nIt is widely accepted that wellbeing affects students’
engagement with learning\, their social and emotional behaviour and their
overall satisfaction with life. However\, what is perhaps less well
understood\, is the Board’s role in supporting the Principal and school
leaders to build a community of practice that fosters wellbeing and builds
social capital within their school community. The way in which the Board
supports the wellbeing of the Principal\, for example\, will have a direct
effect on staff and student wellbeing.\n\nKeynote Speakers\n\nTUESDAY 26
