SUMMARY:What Boards Need to Know About Child Protection
DESCRIPTION:Child protection is of paramount importance for every school
but it is becoming increasingly complex with changes in State and Federal
legislation\, technology and social media. Boards need to have a shared
understanding and engage with and demonstrate their commitment to child
safety to ensure a harmonious school environment where child safety is
prioritised.\n\nConsideration needs to be given to the Australian Student
Wellbeing Framework (2019) as well as the National Principles of Child Safe
Organisations (2018) which reflect the ten child safe standards recommended
by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual
Abuse\, with a broader scope that goes beyond sexual abuse to cover other
forms of potential harm.\n\nThis session will delve into recommended best
practice approaches that schools should consider from a strategic
perspective when considering child safety policy and
 procedures.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTarget audience: Board Chairs\, Board members\,
 Business Managers and Principals\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nPresenters\nSonia
 Albertini\, Head of Legal Services\, AISSA\nMary Pickett\, Senior Education
 Consultant\, AISSA\nCarolyn Grantskalns\, Chief Executive\,
