SUMMARY:Aboriginal Cultural Immersion Program
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 East Arnhem Land Aboriginal Immersion Program is from
18-24 August. This successful program is in its fifth year and is offered
in partnership with Culture College and the Association of Independent
Schools NSW.\n\nThe Aboriginal Cultural Immersion Program aims to bring
together current and aspiring School Leaders and educators to experience
first-hand the uniqueness of Aboriginal culture.\n\nThis program will
provide opportunities to deepen your understanding of Australia’s First
Peoples\, the oldest living cultures in the world. This will empower you to
lead with greater insight the reconciliation initiatives in your community
and broaden your understanding of the ways that First Nations’
perspectives can be integrated into teaching and
learning.\n\nSignificantly\, the program contributes to providing the
Yolngu people of East Arnhem Land with an economically sustainable way of
maintaining their culture on their Homelands and builds true reconciliation
through two-way learning.\n\nThis opportunity is open to all educators in
SA independent schools. Schools are welcome to extend this invitation to a
small number of secondary students.\n\nAccommodation and Activities\n\nThe
Aboriginal Cultural Immersion Program will have participants engaging in a
range of hands-on activities which will include some of the following:
Yolngu language lessons\, kinship structures\, basket weaving\, bush tucker
and bush medicines\, making fire\, making traditional paint from clay\,
traditional dancing\, fishing and making jewellery. Please refer to the
Itinerary for detailed information.\n\nCost and Registration\n\nCost per
person is $5\,695 (GST inclusive). A deposit of $1\,000 per person will be
required by 4 March 2024. The final payment is due 15 May 2024.\n\nTo
