 about Wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:A Conference for School Board Chairs\, Board Members and

 here\n\nWellbeing is a critical issue in schools and increasingly links are
 being demonstrated between wellbeing approaches in school and school
 success. The 2021 Governance Virtual Conference will focus on the role of
 school boards in creating and sustaining high levels of wellbeing in their
 communities.\n\nIt is widely accepted that wellbeing affects students’
 engagement with learning\, their social and emotional behaviour and their
 overall satisfaction with life. However\, what is perhaps less well
 understood\, is the Board’s role in supporting the Principal and school
 leaders to build a community of practice that fosters wellbeing and builds
 social capital within their school community. The way in which the Board
 supports the wellbeing of the Principal\, for example\, will have a direct
 effect on staff and student wellbeing.\n\nKeynote Speakers\n\nTUESDAY 26
 OCTOBER  7.00PM - 8.30PM\nDr Helen Street\nSupporting Principals and
 Thriving School Communities with Contextual Wellbeing\nDr Helen Street\,
 Honorary Research Fellow\, Graduate School of Education\, University of
 Western Australia and author of Contextual Wellbeing - Dr Street will
 explore contemporary issues and research that will develop Board members’
 understanding about ways to support school and community wide approaches to
 wellbeing.  She will also explore how Boards can better support Principal
 and school leader wellbeing\, as a vital foundation to building wellbeing
 across their school communities.\n\nTHURSDAY 4 NOVEMBER 7.00PM - 8.30PM\nMr
 David Runge and Mr Andrew Brown\nWhat is the Board's Role in Influencing
 Culture and the Wellbeing of the School?\nDavid Runge\, Director\, Future
 Schools and Andrew Brown\, Director\, Adaptive Cultures - Mr Runge and Mr
 Brown will demonstrate how Board culture impacts the health and wellbeing
 of the school.\n\nPanel Discussion\n\nTUESDAY 9 NOVEMBER 7.00PM -
 8.30PM\nMrs Carolyn Grantskalns\, Mr Anthony Mackay AM\, Ms Fiona Hutton
 and Mr David Runge\nThe conference will conclude with a panel discussion
 focusing on Board processes that build whole school wellbeing. This will
 include a discussion of ways in which Boards can demonstrate their
 commitment to whole school wellbeing\, and will foreground innovative
 approaches to Principal appointment\, induction\, mentoring and review
 processes and a range of approaches for effective Board review.\n\nThe
 panel discussion will be facilitated by Mr Louka Parry\, CEO\, of The
