 about Wellbeing

 ing is a critical issue in schools and increasingly links are being demons
 trated between wellbeing approaches in school and school success. The 2021
  Governance Virtual Conference will focus on the role of school boards in 
 creating and sustaining high levels of wellbeing in their communities.\n\n
 It is widely accepted that wellbeing affects students’ engagement with l
 earning\, their social and emotional behaviour and their overall satisfact
 ion with life. However\, what is perhaps less well understood\, is the Boa
 rd’s role in supporting the Principal and school leaders to build a comm
 unity of practice that fosters wellbeing and builds social capital within 
 their school community. The way in which the Board supports the wellbeing 
 of the Principal\, for example\, will have a direct effect on staff and st

  with Contextual Wellbeing\nDr Helen Street\, Honorary Research Fellow\, G
 raduate School of Education\, University of Western Australia and author 
 of Contextual Wellbeing - Dr Street will explore contemporary issues and r
 esearch that will develop Board members’ understanding about ways to sup
 port school and community wide approaches to wellbeing.  She will also ex
 plore how Boards can better support Principal and school leader wellbeing\
 , as a vital foundation to building wellbeing across their school communit
 ies.\n\nTHURSDAY 4 NOVEMBER 7.00PM - 8.30PM\nMr David Runge and Mr Andrew 
 Brown\nWhat is the Board's Role in Influencing Culture and the Wellbeing o
 f the School?\nDavid Runge\, Director\, Future Schools and Andrew Brown\, 
 Director\, Adaptive Cultures - Mr Runge and Mr Brown will demonstrate how 
 Board culture impacts the health and wellbeing of the school.\n\nPanel Dis
 cussion\n\nTUESDAY 9 NOVEMBER 7.00PM - 8.30PM\nMrs Carolyn Grantskalns\, M
 r Anthony Mackay AM\, Ms Fiona Hutton and Mr David Runge\nThe conference w
 ill conclude with a panel discussion focusing on Board processes that buil
 d whole school wellbeing. This will include a discussion of ways in which 
 Boards can demonstrate their commitment to whole school wellbeing\, and wi
 ll foreground innovative approaches to Principal appointment\, induction\,
  mentoring and review processes and a range of approaches for effective Bo
 ard review.\n\nThe panel discussion will be facilitated by Mr Louka Parry\
