Trade Training Centres (TTC)

Metal Work
The Trade Training Centres in Schools Program is part of the Commonwealth Government’s Education Revolution. It will provide $2.5 billion over 10 years to enable all secondary schools to apply for funding of between $500,000 and $1.5 million for Trade Training Centres.

Trade Training Centres are being established to help increase the proportion of students achieving Year 12 or an equivalent qualification and help address skill shortages in traditional trades and emerging industries.

Schools will have an opportunity to apply for funding to build new, or upgrade, existing trade or vocational education and training facilities.

DEEWR will conduct an annual application process.

Expression of Interest Process

Schools must first submit an Expression of Interest.

Only those schools that successfully submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) for Round Three, or that were unsuccessful in Round Two are eligible to submit an application for Round Three.

Schools may require a longer period of time to fully develop a quality application and are not obliged to submit a full application during 2010 on the basis that they have submitted an EOI for Round Three.

If you require further information please phone the Trade Training Centre Information telephone hotline on 1300 363 079.

The EoI includes core information about a proposed application such as:
  • a description of the proposal;
  • the approximate amount of Program funds being sought;
  • the cluster/consortium members (where applicable); and
  • the nature of training being offered through the TTC.

A Letter of Intent to Apply provided by the SAIS BGA must also be included with the EoI.

Full Application Process

A full application for the Round must be submitted by the closing date.

This application must give full details of the capital works, training programs to be provided, consortium or cluster members and training providers.
The process is a competitive one with all applications to be assessed against schools nationally.

All applications will be reviewed by a three sector panel at State level before being referred to DEEWR for assessment by a National panel.

Priority will be given to schools with the greatest need and capacity to benefit.
